Mason Jar Meal Prep Ideas (eat clean on the go)

Mason Jar meal prep is an easy way to eat clean. In this article I explain why mason jar meal prep is superior to other types of meal prep. And show how it’s an easy way for you to prepare healthy make-ahead meals to eat later. I also provide recipes and meal prep ideas to get you started.

If you’re a friend of the blog, you know I love meal prep.

Meal prep keeps your diet on track. There’s no better way to stay consistent with your diet than with meal prep. I owe the majority of my weight loss transformation to meal prepping.

Mason jar meal prep is kind of ‘in vogue’ because it looks neat and translates well to pintrest. But the real value of mason jars is that they are cheap and durable food storage option.

For example, you can get a 12-pack of big mason jars for $25 on amazon. Those allow you to prep six day’s worth of lunches and dinners. They will last forever and never leak.

Compare this to alternative food storage containers like Pyrex or those flimsy plastic ones.

I would never heat my food in a plastic container no matter how safe it claims to be. The plastic containers feel very cheap and leak easily. The lid pops off at the slightest jostling.

I prefer glass food storage containers because I can heat food in them safely.

But brands like Pyrex and Anchor containers are expensive. A 6-pack of meal-size pyrex glass containers are almost $40. Don’t get me wrong, they are good and I own both, but mason jars are less expansive and actually seal tighter.

Mason Jar Meal Prep Gives You an Advantage

Getting in shape requires two things:

Lifting weights and eating clean.

You’ll find that lifting is easy compared to eating clean.

Meal prep makes eating clean easier by having healthy meals ready to eat at all times.

Meal prep provides many benefits. The best is that it ensures that you meet your nutritional requirements in order reach your fitness goals.

I use mason jars for meal prep because they are durable, leakproof, microwavable (take the lid off first) and air-tight. Mason jars keep your food fresh and you can heat and eat right from the jar.

I’ve been preparing healthy mason jar meals to save time, save money, and to eat clean.

How to Meal Prep with Mason Jars

Every Sunday, I cook lunches for the week ahead.

My lunch is usually a mix of rice, beans, steamed veggies with some protein. Either ground beef, chicken, or fish.

Save Time and Money with Meal Prep

Lunch time at work with my Mason Jar meal prep

I used to spend $8+ per lunch per day.

Now, I cook all the food I want to eat and portion it out evenly into mason jars.

This whole process takes me one hour and cost about $15 for all my meals.

It’s safe to say that these meals have the best nutrition you can get per dollar. They spending that amount of many anywhere else and get this amount of wholesome nutrition. I’ll bet you can’t do it.

The food I used to eat was dog shit compared to my mason jar meals. Now I eat better and save a ton of time because I don’t have to scavenge for lunch each day.

I just bring my mason jar meal with me to work, and toss it in the fridge.

When lunch time comes around, I heat it in the microwave for a few minutes and lunch is served.

I’ll add a little sauce, spice, or seasoning if I want a little extra flavor. Then I spend about 20 minutes eating. That means I have an extra 40 minutes each day to work. That means I get done with my workday 40 minutes sooner or I can put more effort into a task or project.

Plus I have more money in my pocket and I’m eating at least one healthy meal each day. What would you do with an extra 40 minutes a day?

This extra 40 minutes a day compounded over time can give you a huge advantage. Try to make the most of it.

Mason Jar Meal Prep Makes Things Simple

Mason jar meal prep is the simplest way to get a better grip on your day. It only takes one hour each Sunday (and a half dozen mason jars), to get ahead of the curve.

The Verdict: Just try it.

What do you have to lose?

Nothing.

Well, maybe you’ll lose a few pounds of fat if that’s your intention.

What do you have to gain?

All the time and money you’re wasting searching for lunch and eating garbage.

Until Next Time,

Hoz
