These brownies are incredible. plus, they accommodate restrictive diets. These paleo brownies are gluten-free, dairy-free, and vegetarian/vegan.
The only diet these brownies don’t fit into very well is the ketogenic diet. (Although, you might be able to get away with eating a small brownie right after a workout.)
I honestly can’t get over how good these brownies taste.
They take about 25 minutes total to make and will blow your freaking mind.
Here are the ingredients you will need:
- 1 cup creamy almond butter
- 1 Tbsp coconut oil
- 4 Tbsp REAL maple syrup (or raw organic honey)
- 4 Tbsp applesauce (natural unsweetened)
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 6 Tbsp almond flour
- 4 Tbs cocoa powder
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp sea salt
- (optional) – 1/2 cup mini chocolate chips
Once you have your supplies it’s time to party:
How to Make Paleo Brownies
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees
- Grease baking pans with melted coconut butter. I used two 8×4 loaf pans to cook these suckers. You want the brownie batter to be at least an inch deep so your brownies are crisp on the outside gooey on the inside.
- Mix almond flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder and salt in a bowl. Set it aside for now.
- Melt coconut butter and almond butter on the stove top and stir together.
- Add maple syrup, applesauce, coconut sugar and vanilla into the coconut/almond butter mixture. Stir it all up.
- Add dry ingredients from bowl with wet ingredients and stir until everything is evenly combined.
- Add chocolate chips is you want
- Spread the brownie batter into your greased pans.
- Bake those beautiful SOBs in the oven at 350 degrees for 10-15 minutes. Bake longer for firmer brownies and shorter for brownies with a gooey center.
- Pull out when brownies are your desired doneness and let cool at room temperature for 15-20 minutes.
- Cut into squares and take a bite. Try not to eat them all at once. i think I finished all mine while they where still warm.
Paleo Brownie Macro Profile
As far as macros are concerned, these brownies aren’t the best food item in the world. But, you need to live a little and if you have a sweet tooth like me, these brownies will satisfy your cravings without making you feel like shit.
One 2×2 inch brownie is about 280-300 calories containing roughly 7 grams of protein, 24 grams carbs, and about 20 grams of fat.
There is nothing processed or refined in this recipe, making it extra good.
