Whipped Sweet Potato Pie Recipe

sweet potato dessert with nuts

Sweet potatoes are nature’s candy, but with a twist because they are actually good for you. Here’s an easy sweet potato dessert recipe that will knock your socks off.

It takes almost no time at all. Virtually zero manual labor. Let your oven do all the hard work while you enjoy all the sweet, rich, creamy goodness.

Sweet Potato Dessert Ingredients:

  1. Sweet potatoes
  2. Toppings

That’s it.

I like to top mine with roasted nuts roughly chopped. Add a SMALL amount of maple syrup for a warm molassessey flavor.

How to Make Sweet Potato Dessert

Prep: Set oven to 400 degrees. Rinse sweet potatoes in cold water, shake off excess water, then wrap in tin foil. Shiny side out. Wrapped nice and tight and fully enclosed.

  1. Pop your potato cocoon into the oven once it hits our target temperature. Roast sweet potato until it’s soft and squishy. (Takes 40-60 minutes depending on the size of your potato and your oven. You can open the tin foil and poke the potato with a fork to see if it’s done. Be careful not to burn yourself.)
  2. Take out potatoes from the oven and remove the skin. The skin should peel off easily if the potatoes are done. Add a liiiitle drizzle of maple syrup (The good stuff. Real maple syrup is actually kind of good for you. Sure, there’s sugar in it, but it’s all natural. Just tree sap and heat. That’s it. Real maple syrup is loaded with vitamins and minerals. Everything else is trash. Usually filled with high fructose corn syrup and camouflaged with artificial caramel color. Disgusting. Looking at you Cog Labin. Beware of imposters, friends.) Place your spuds in a big bowl and mash ’em up with a stiff whisk. Keep whisking until there are no more lumps.
  3. Scope the fluffy mixture into a dessert dish, add toppings and serve. Enjoy warm or chilled.

(If you want to get cute you can mix in a pinch of cinnamon and nutmeg for a deeper flavor.)

Voila. Now you have a super simple, very tasty sweet potato pie dessert you can eat any time your heart desires. Savor it after a big plate of steak and eggs, or whip it up to impress your Tinder date.

I freaking love sweet potatoes. I make them all the time when I want something carby. The best part is that sweet potatoes taste amazing as is. You don’t have to add anything to them and you know exactly what you’re getting.

And this should go without saying but, yes, this recipe is vegan, vegetarian, paleo and gluten free.

Book mark this sweet potato dessert recipe and come back to it when you want something tasty that’s actually good for you.

Be sure to let me know how it turns out.

Thanks for reading and have a nice day.
