Vince Gironda was lightyears ahead of his time. His knowledge of the human body was unmatched.

When it came to training clients, he knew all the right moves for each student. And when it came to nutrition, Vince was a master.

Vince Gironda earned the name the ‘Iron Guru’ through his ability to sculpt people into chiseled works of art.

His success is a culmination of decades of trial and error, experimentation, and observations all analyzed and scrutinized continuously in an effort to eliminated weakness and maximize strengths.

Vince knew things decades before science could prove it. As a trainer he was second to none. He produced hundreds of bodybuilding champions, thousands of sculpted clients, and positively impacted millions with his teachings.

Champions Adjust

People like to argue why their diet is objectively better that every other diet. Vince was smart. He knew everyone was different. Physically, psychology, biochemically, emotionally. And he would adapt his approach as needed for each individual client depending on their goals and needs.

Vince was a man with conviction, but always strived to learn more. This set him apart. Often times people cling to something for too long. They don’t evolve and as a result they wither and die. Vince was different. He had his principle but he was constantly writing and re-writing the manual.

For all his eccentricities people criticized him for, he was actually quite practical. He was a problem solver. He used what worked and discarded what didn’t. Dogma be damned.

He wasn’t in business to be popular, he was in it to be the best and to bring the best out of people. He made champions. Plain and simple.

If you were lucky enough to be trained by Vince, you either got with his program or you found a new place to train.

Most people stuck to his program.

Why?

Because Vince knew what he was doing. And his clients knew that Vince knew what he was doing.

How did they know?

Because Vince got results. Big results. And he got them fast.

As a result, his clients trusted him and bought into his methods. Much to their benefit, of course.

Innate Animal Wisdom

Vince trusted his instincts. He was very much in tune with his nature. He had an innate animal wisdom that guided his nutrition principles.

To oversimplify his diet philosophy, eat all-natural, whole, plain, simple foods grown or raised on fertile ground, with plenty of pure water and sunshine. Just like God intended.

He was his own genie pig. He had the uncanny ability to develop new exercises and deploy them in a way that his clients benefited greatly. He also studied his students closely constantly collecting data.

After some time his reputation proceeded him. To this day his editorials and muscle books are taught feverishly and jealously guarded by people who own them. For the own a part of bodybuilding history and lore.

This is Vince GiRonda over 40 years old. Aging is inevitable but you can tilt the odds in your favor for a healthy aging process if you follow Vince’s principles.

The Vince Gironda Maximum Definition Diet

Use this diet to get shredded before summer or spring break. It’s not meant to be done year-round.

This diet isn’t about balance or moderation. It’s about getting as ripped as possible in the shortest amount of time.

No nonsense, no filler.

Just what you need to reach the goal and nothing else.

Here is how you get lean and mean with Vince Gironda’s Maximum definition diet.

Maximum Definiton Diet Overview

There’s “no carb” phase and a “carb up” phase.

First you do 4-5 days with no carbs. Zilch. Zero. Nadda. None, okay?

Then have a CARB ONLY meal on the 4th or 5th day. This CARB ONLY meal is to replenish your muscles with glycogen. It’s CARB ONLY because it’s easier to digest. Your body makes optimal use of the carbs. But ONLY if you have CARBS ONLY. Your system digests carb only meals easier and more thoroughly than it digests carb + protein/fat meals. Okay. Moving on.

This is not a high-performance diet. It’s a get-as-ripped-as-humanly-possible diet.

The process might not be enjoyable. But the results are very impressive.

Things to know before jumping into Vince Gironda’s Maximum Definition diet.

  • Your energy levels may fluctuate.
  • Your strength may decrease.
  • You abs will pop.
  • Muscles you never knew you had will appear.

Obviously, the more muscle mass you have, the more impressive the results will be. You will lose fat no matter what with this diet. You will shed water weight. Your muscles will look hard and dense.

Remove ALL Carbohydrates

This is black or white. No carbs until instructed otherwise.

“There has always been considerable mystery and misconception concerning a definition diet. Let’s hope this article will help to straighten out a few of these.

To begin with, all carbohydrates must be removed from a maximum definition diet. This means all fruit, all vegetables, all salad greens and all milk products (cheeses, yogurt, ice cream, milk and buttermilk). The only milk products that can be used are butter and cream.

Any kind of meat, fish or fowl and eggs are the only foods permissible. You must, however, eat some carbohydrate every four or five days because you will find that you will smooth out and veins and cuts will disappear. You will find also that you are not getting the pump you should and your strength will decrease. This is because a zero carbohydrate diet drains all the stored glycogen from the liver, and only carbohydrate will replenish it.

But don’t try to eat a small amount of carbohydrate each day. You will only find you are smoothing out.

This high protein diet will tend to make you nervous because of the phosphorus in the meat. That is why I suggest you keep your calcium (tablets) intake high.”

The bold emphasis is mine. So…yes, you can add a green salad and/or bell pepper – but only one meal every four or five days.

Alright, here’s the diet:

Vince GiRonda’s Maximum Definition Diet

Breakfast

Meat (no limit) – Steak, sausage, bacon, ground beef, burger patties, liver, animal organ meat

Eggs (no limit) – whole fertile eggs are best. Cooked to your liking.

Luncheon

Meat (no limit) – Same as breakfast, tuna, salmon, pork chops, turkey, meatloaf, pot roast, roast beef.

Eggs (no limit) – As many eggs as you can eat cooked in your preferred style.

Dinner

Same as breakfast and lunch. Eat as much meat and eggs as you want.

Snacks

If you need a snack between meals or before bed eat some hard boiled eggs and/or a plain burger patty.

Carbohydrate Only Meal

Eat a carbohydrate only meal every 4 or 5 days.

Carb only means carb only. No protein. No fat. This is to ensure optimum digestion of the carbohydrates and efficient glycogen delivery to your muscles.

If you go too long with out carbs your muscles will get flat and your energy will plummet.

Vince Gironda Recommend Supplements

Vince Gironda believed in supplements. His reasoning was that the food quality began to decline was industrialized farming caught on. Soil was starved of its nutrients do to over farming which means the food had less nutrition per bite.

He was very selective of his supplements. Only the best. Nothing unnecessary. Here’s the supplements he advised where best for optimal health, muscle building, strength and well being.

Daily Supplement Regimen

Desiccated Liver Tablets: 10 liver tabs every 2 hours to keep you in an anabolic state. Also boosts energy and endurance.

Kelp Tablets: 10 per day for cell health. A natural source of iodine which is good for your thyroid and metabolic function.

Lecithin Tablets: A potent fat emulsifier. Take 1-3 day.

Enzyme Tablets: Help with digestion to keep you in the highest possible net positive energy level and nutrient delivery to every cell in your body. Take a few with each meal.

HCL Tablets: Aids digestion. Good if you have trouble digesting high protein meals. Reduces bloat if it happens to you. Take 1-4 per day depending on your size and symptoms.

Vitamin B-Complex Tablets: Fat burning metabolic properties. Stimulates the growth of health tissues. 1-2 per day keeps the body fat away.

Iron Tablet: Iron helps “build blood”. Include red blood cells which deliver oxygen to your muscles (as well as every other cell in your body). 1 tablet per day if you feel so inclined.

Calcium Tablet: Calcium supplementation helps in case of deficiency which could happen with a prolonged high meat diet. Better safe than sorry and keep a baseline calcium intake through supplementation. 1-4 per day depending on dosage and your size.

RNA Tablet: Short for Ribonucleic acid is biological code that ‘programs’ your cells. These messages tell your cells how to build. The stronger your RNA the higher quality your body’s cells will be.

Niacinamide Tablet: Niacin boosts your metabolism. Usually this is included in sufficient quantities in a B-Complex supplement. Can take 1 per day if needed.

Vitamin C Tablet: No orange juice allowed on this diet so you better take some vitamin C to stay healthy. Vitamin C also reduces muscle soreness and helps with recovery.

Vitamin E Tablet: Build healthy tissues. Especially bones, skin, nails and hair. What does that have to do with muscles? You need strong bones to have strong muscles otherwise they would crumple when you flex. Also, healthy skin, hair, and nails indicates a healthy body. Give your body enough Vitamin E to support critical functions and the rest is used for hair, skin, and nails to indicate you’re on the right track.

Cold-Pressed Wheat Germ Oil: Vince claims Wheat Germ Oil produces hormones conducive to muscle building.

It should go without saying that you want the best quality supplements in their purest form.
