How to Increase Your Metabolism

By Jordan Leave a Comment | Last updated on May 14, 2022

If you want to speed up your metabolism you’ve come to the right place.

I mean, who wouldn’t want to burn more calories everyday without any extra effort?

A fast metabolism is the secret to staying lean. I’m sure you know a person who can eat whatever they want and not gain an ounce. Well, that’s because they have a fast metabolism. BUT. That’s only part of the equation. In this article I’ll tell you about how you can speed up your metabolism no matter how slow yours may seem.

Build Muscle to get a Fast Metabolism

People with a high metabolism have one thing in common – they always have a healthy amount of lean muscle mass. That’s because the more muscle mass you have the faster your metabolism will be.

Every new muscle fiber you add to your frame means you will burn more calories every single day. Muscle is resource intensive. It takes a lot of calories to maintain. Therefore building lean muscle is a great way to boost your metabolism.

So how do you build muscle to speed up your metabolism? Here’s How:

Workout four days a week by doing resistance training exercises. Never train less than 3 days per wee. And train up to 5-6 days a week if your schedule allows.

Building muscle mass in the world’s greatest metabolism booster. If you want a fast metabolism, spend the time in the gym, build quality muscle, and become a body fat burning furnace.

Clean up Your Diet

Poor diet is the number one reason people have a slow metabolism. The modern American diet is synonymous with poor diet.

Soda, snacks, and processed foods kill your metabolism. They literally break you down from the inside out. Some ingredients to avoid are vegetable oils (including soybean oil and seed oils). These are industrial chemicals and choke your mitochondria (resulting in a slow metabolism). Not good.

You need to clean up your diet and give your body a chance to heal. Your body is a wonderful machine capable of repairing itself. It wants to live and thrive! All you have to do to begin the healing process is to get out of your own way. The best way to do this is to practice intermittent fasting.

What is Intermittent Fasting?

Fasting is a length of time without eating. A proper fasting period lasts 16 hours to several days or more. No need to go that extreme. Especially to begin with.

Intermittent fasting is a good place to start. I wrote at length about different types of intermittent fasting before. A good starting point is 16-8 intermittent fasting. Where you fast 16 hours a day and eat within an 8 hour window each day.

Hydrate

Drink a gallon of fresh water every day. My favorite thing to do is to squeeze fresh lemon juice and a pinch of Celtic sea salt into my giant mason jar of distilled water. I routinely drink 2 gallons of water a day.

This should go without saying, but cut out all liquid calories. No soda or beer. A glass of wine is fine as long (as you are of age of course). This has a purifying effect. Plus your body works best when you are adequately hydrated.

Eat All Natural Foods

Obviously, you need to take corrective action to rebuild your metabolism. One of those is to eat as naturally as possible.

The QUALITY of your food makes a SIGNIFICANT difference in your results and ability to increase your metabolism.

Quality food is all natural and fresh. The closer to the source the better. Farm raised, open range meats and organic vegetables in fertile soil that get plenty of sunshine and clean water is what you want.

Get to know some farmers in your area and buy food from them. They love what they do and you can taste the love and care they put into their produce. It tastes better than anything else.

Metabolism Boosters?

And finally, skip the pills that claim to boost metabolism. They don’t work because they don’t fix anything at a fundamental level.

How to Increase Your Metabolism

You don’t need to boil the ocean. Just implement one or two things a day and stick with it. Consistency wins when it comes to fitness.

If you want a faster metabolism just remember two simple things: Cut out the bad food and replace it with the good food. Do this long enough and give an honest effort in gym and you’ll see results. And you will be thrilled with your accomplishment.
