Best Men’s Gym Clothes
Lululemon ‘At Ease’ Shorts – My favorite gym shorts. Super comfortable and stylish with pockets. I wear them to the gym, coffee shop and lounging at home.
Metal Vent Tech Short Sleeve T Shirt – Function, comfortable and stylish performance wear for men.
‘At Ease’ Jogger – Great for warming up, cool morning runs and trips to the grocery store to pick up steak and eggs.
Converse All Star Chuck Taylor’s – The best and most durable gym shoe. The soles are flat and provide a stable base for heavy lifts. (unlike running shoes or cross-trainers that point your toes down which is bad for squats and deadlift especially). I’ve had the same pair for 8+ years and they only get better with age.
On-Cloud CloudFlyer – On Cloud offers a wide selection of running shoes. I wear mine for non leg training days. They are comfortable, stylish and perform well. I wrote about On Clouds years ago. They have blown up in popularity since then. On Clouds have also introduced better performance and higher durability training shoes. I’m not much of a runner. But when I do run a lace up my On Clouds. They are super comfortable, lightweight and look great.
Iron & Grit Hat – Classic fit snapback style hat to keep a lid on your mane and looks great worn forward or back. (Working on the store. Send me an email if you want to purchase a hat.)
Best Workout Gear
Apple AirPods Pro – These are the best headphones for working out I’ve ever used. They are wireless, they are comfortable, and sound quality is perfect.
AirPods are sweat-proof, noise canceling, and the buds stay in your ears. Even on long runs and hard workouts the AirPods stay snug in your ear.
AirPods connect and stay connected. No annoying connection issues like I’ve experiences with other bluetooth earbuds.
Plus, you can take calls with them, your voice comes in clear and it filters out background noises like chewing food and smacking lips. The battery lasts forever and the case is a reserve battery pack. Pricey perhaps, but worth every penny.
Fat Gripz – Fat Gripz wrap around bars to make lifting weights more challenging. Your forearms and grip strength will VASTLY improve from using Fat Gripz.
They are the single best investment you can make, other than an actually gym membership, to get stronger. Use them on arm day and during ‘pull’ exercises to ignite forearm growth.
Massage Lacrosse Ball – I use this daily for trigger point release therapy and breaking up muscle knots.
Self Message Hook – A back and neck message tool for myofascial release and deep tissue massage. I bought one of these immediately after using my friends for the first time. It’s great for working knots out of my upper back and for releasing tension in my neck and trapezius muscles.
Best Meal Prep and Cooking Gear
Meal Prep Food Storage Containers – I use glass because they seal better. The cheap plastic ones are too flimsy and cause leaks and spills. I also don’t heat my food in plastic no matter how safe they say it is. Glass containers last longer and make the eating experience more enjoyable. I like rectangular containers for more efficient storage.
Digital Food Scale – I’ve owned this scale and used it for over 5 years without issue. Weighing your food is necessary because everything that gets measured improves. People are grossly inaccurate about how much (or little) they eat. A food scale solves this problem.
Crock-Pot – Effortlessly cook meals in bulk with virtually no clean up.
Lodge Cast Iron Skillet – The best beginner cast iron skillet. It’s actually wait inexpensive. I got a 12-inch cast iron skillet for $30 on Amazon. (free shipping too) If you live in the U.S. it’s probably the best deal you will find.
Calphalon Frying Pans – Every other brand is a joke compared to these. Every other non-stick frying pan I’ve ever bought sticks after a year and ends up in the dumpster. Calphalon will last you many many years of daily use.
Best Supplements
Most supplements are a waste of money. These are worth every penny.
Ancestral Supplements Desiccated Liver Tablets – Liver tablets are the best supplement money can buy. Liver is the perfect supplement. It’s a pre-workout, post workout, energy, and recovery supplement all it one. Work your way up to take 10 tablets before a workout and watch your energy and strength shoot through the roof.
Transparent Labs Whey Protein – Pure and simple ingredients formulated precisely and it works as advertised.
Nature Made Calcium Magnesium Zinc Tablets with Vitamin D – Super combo for men. Good for strong bones, healthy nervous system and reproductive health.
Nature Made Vitamin C 500 mg Caps – Good ol’ vitamin C. Take one a day for a healthy immune system.
Books Men Should Read
These are some of the best books out there for the beginner. People learn differently but these books do a pretty good job of explaining the basics of building muscle and gaining strength. If you read just one make it Arnold’s – it’s the best by far.
Arnold Schwarzenegger: Education of a BodyBuilder by Arnold Schwarzenegger. Part bodybuilding primer, part autobiography. This book is a must read for anyone looking to increase their muscular size and strength.
It’s also an amazing story of how Arnold Schwarzenegger, a nobody from nowhere, beat the odds and became one of the most influential men in modern history. A fun, motivating read.
The Skinny-Fat Solution by Yours Truly
Think and Grow Rich – This Masterpiece teaches you the Power of positive thinking. Get the original version, not one of the watered down knock-offs.
Men’s Skin Care and Grooming
Self care is important if you want to look and feel good for the long game.
Take care of yourself – it’s common sense self preservation. Stay clean, mean, and look sharp.
Fresh Soy Facial Cleanser – Gets rid of dirt and grime while being easy on your skin. Won’t dry your skin and has a nice lather and light, fresh scent. I have a tube in my gym bag and bottle in my shower at home.
Harry’s Razors – These are the best razors I’ve ever used. They stay sharp longer than disposable razors, and are very inexpensive compared to mass brands. It’s a high-end shave for less than half the price. This is a no brainer fella’s. If you use disposable razors, try Harry’s, you won’t be disappointed.
Nivea Men Post Shave Balm – The best aftershave balm I’ve ever used. It’s weightless and not greasy. Keep your face from looking like a roadmap and keep your skin healthy and hydrated.
Burt’s Bees Fluoride Free Toothpaste – Most toothpaste has harmful chemicals, food dyes, and micro plastics. Don’t put that in your mouth. Also, Fluoride lowers IQ. Look it up.
Kent Handmade Comb – Handmade and saw-cut in England by order of the Queen’s majesty. A tool like this with excellent craftsmanship can make a routine experience much more enjoyable. They also make a fun, easy gift or stocking stuffer.
Gold Bond Foot Powder – This stuff keeps your feet cool, dry and stink free. If you have stinky shoes this will help.
Lifestyle Items I Think You Will Enjoy
Moleskin Classic Notebook – I take my notebook everywhere. Perfect for jotting notes, outlining articles, and capturing million dollar ideas. I typically fill one of these up with notes/doodles each year and I have 5-6 volumes on my self.
